  • Bourdieu Lectures: Gender – Domination – Visuality

    The first edition of the Bourdieu Lectures will take place on 19–20 November 2025 at the Kunsthalle Bielefeld, under the title Gender – Domination – Visuality. This conference is a joint initiative by the University of Bielefeld,  Zeppelin University (Friedrichshafen), University of Education Freiburg and Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien, in close cooperation with the Fondation Bourdieu.

  • Exposé Writing in English

    The exposé represents the foundation and starting point for the doctoral thesis and is a crucial first step in the overall writing process. This one-day workshop is designed for doctoral candidates across all disciplines (Dr.phil., PhD in Practice, Dr.techn., Dr.rer.nat.) and offers hands-on guidance for writing exposés in English.

  • Academy Auction

    The annual online auction of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, in cooperation with Dorotheum Vienna, takes place again in 2026. The artistic works can be viewed from Wednesday, 21.1. to Friday, 23.1.2025 at the Prospekthof of the Atelierhaus of the Academy.

  • Open Days 2026

    During Rundgang (Open Days), institutes will open their atelier doors and studios, and performances, discussions and educational programs are offered. The annual Academy Auction will also take place as part of the tour, for which world-famous and even lesser-known artists will make works available for auction.

  • Considering the Collection & The Day You Were Thinking About the Sibyl While You Were Picking Autumn Leaves An Insert by Ana Torfs

    The format Considering the Collection & An Insert by … features highlights from the collection of the Paintings Gallery as well as installations and groups of works conceived as inserts by contemporary artists and incorporated into the temporary arrangement from the permanent collection. The insert by Belgian artist Ana Torfs is the third presentation in this series.
